Weekend With Friends

051113 (1 of 1)

We had a great weekend!  My best friend Sara and her family came to visit from Arkansas.  They took their boys to Lego Land and then we met up with them on Saturday to spend some time together.  We visited the Grapevine Aquarium.  I’ll talk more about that in another post.  It was SO much fun!  Connor is really into the ocean and fish right now.

We ate afterwards at the food court

Here is Connor and LoganIMG_20130727_121407

Then Terence and Connor went home for a nap while Sara and I conquered IKEA.  I love that store, I actually haven’t been in a year or so….but they have new things all the time.  I tried to warn Sara how big it is.  I think when we got in she was overwhelmed with the whole thing.  If you’ve never been to an IKEA then it’s a LOT to take in!  It’s huge and is full of everything you could think of for a home.  The kids area is my favorite.IMG_20130727_131132

After IKEA we headed to Stonebriar Mall.  There was this crazy restaurant in the middle of the mall where all the food comes out on conveyer belts.  It’s called Wasabi Sushi.  We passed it and I just had to take a picture because it reminded me of something out of the future.

We also visited a favorite store of mine called Love Sac.  I just ADORE these humongous bean bags.  They are so comfortable you can just fall into them and curl up for hours.IMG_20130727_155711Later that night Terence’s sister came over to babysit so we could have a double date.  We ate at The Cheesecake Factory.  We ate ourselves silly and reminisced about old times.  We had a great visit….then we had to wheel ourselves out to the parking lot we were so full!

My favorite find at IKEA is the awesome TV tray for Connor.

It was $7!!!! Score! IMG_20130728_121519

What’s in MY Bag? #DrSmiths #Giveaway

I’ve done a few fun “What’s in MY Bag” posts before….but this one is super fun because it involves one of my favorite brands and a giveaway too!  So, I’ll show you what I carry with me on a daily basis now, and I’ll also show you what I recommend carrying if you are a new Mom as well.

My bag currently:

D7K_2806

  • Phone
  • Sunglasses
  • Anti-bacterial wipes/Lens wipes/Shout stain wipes
  • Spank stick
  • Phone
  • Keys
  • Card zipper case
  • Mints
  • Medicine
  • MayBooks Day Planner
  • $$$
  • Colored pens
  • Ponytail bands
  • Concealer & Lip gloss

That’s what I have in my bag right now.  Connor is 3 years old and he now carries most of his necessities in his own backpack, which is awesome!  He keeps Pull-Ups, extra underwear, extra clothes, socks, Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment, and some toys.

Below is what I would recommend to the new Mom wondering what to carry in her diaper bag:

These are some of my favorite things and also things that I carried when Connor was a young baby….

Connor has always had a sensitive hiney and it flared up a lot when he was a baby.  Especially when he was sick.  I still use Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment on him to this day.  When he’s sick and has potty “issues” he still gets a rash.  He also has splash day at school on Friday’s and his hiney flares up if he’s wet for too long in a swimsuit as well.  Nothing has worked better for us than Dr. Smith’s.  I kid you not, nothing…..

If you are a Mom of a young child or expecting your first baby I highly recommend Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment.  The quality and customer service is beyond compare.  You must try it so you can experience the magic it works on diaper rash.

Dr. Smith’s is now available nationwide at Walgreens.  You can find the nearest retailer to you HERE.  Dr. Smith’s Diaper Rash Ointment® is now at more than 10,000 new retail locations including Walgreens, grocers and supercenters nationwide!product_montage

The Boy is Back in Town

My sweet boy has been in Arkansas for a whole week!  He was supposed to be there for two weeks but we picked him up early.  He had a great time bonding with his Nana & Poppy.  My BFF Sara is coming to visit next weekend and I’m so excited!!!  We got him this weekend so we’d be able to visit with her and her family.  I missed my cuddle bug.  He’s getting so big!  He’s really tall for 3.  Anytime we go out people say “He’s only 3?”

Had a great week with the hubs getting to do our own things and catching up on some DVR.  But really what did we do before Connor came along?  We had 8 1/2 years before a kiddo….it’s crazy how your mind works.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Summer Vacay

Connor is enjoying a little R&R with Nana & Poppy right now.  I’m sure he’s soaking it up and loving every minute.  I wish I was there getting some spoiled rotten-ness too 🙂

Hopefully he doesn’t come home too spoiled, but according to my parents it’s a grandparent’s right.  I don’t know if I’m going to last 2 whole weeks of him being gone…..I’ve already cleaned the house and done all the OCD stuff I can do!  Well, I better go get ready for work….it’s so QUIET in the house!

Midweek Randoms

I’m linking up with Megan for “Midweek Randoms

Lord knows my mind is all kinds of random.  Sometimes it’s just easier to post random stuff that’s been hanging around in your head than it is to come up with a clever, tidy blog post.

I think 4 people I know had babies today.  That is random.

Here is my little BACHELOR.  (3 and younger ladies) I love Red 21 Boys.  It’s one of my favorite stores to shop for boy clothing and they constantly have amazing sales.  D7K_2572

I saw these Barbies the other day and I thought of how much Bonnie and I would have LOVED playing with them.  A space Barbie….who knew?D7K_2272

I was cleaning out my desk at work and came home with all these pens.  I think I have a pen addiction.  I can’t go into Target or Walmart without buying new pens to try because it just might be the best pen I’ve ever had.  D7K_2560

My Mom gave me this cookbook for my birthday.  She said it looked like me 🙂  I can’t wait to try some fun stuff out in it soon!
D7K_2562Connor’s school had a puppetere come and do a show for them today.  I ran up there to crash the party & take some pictures.  The kids absolutely loved it and he did a great job!D7K_2583

I got my July Birchbox in today.  I LOVE this lipstick. Usually I am picky about lipsticks because they can taste like wax or wierd tasting….but this went on so smooth and tasted great!

My haul included:

ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Naked, Birchbox bobby pins, Benta Berry Matifying cream, Curl Keeper, & Juicy Couture La La perfume sample.

Love this picture of my Mom & Dad with Connor.  I already miss this so much already…..waaaaaahhh!!!!D7K_2219

Terence and I have been watching Stephen King’s The Dome this summer.  It’s pretty good so far, crazy, but good!  What do you expect from Stephen King?  It sucks you in and now I can’t stop watching because I have to see what happens to this town…..eeeeek!  It’s so hot I am dying.  I try to pick out a shirt every morning that won’t show pit stains.  It sucks.  Ugh.  Well, I better get some rest before work tomorrow!

We are over hump day and now headed for Friday! Whoop!  Whoop!

My First Baby

TERBEC2-00102

Year 2001

Terence was gone to work and I was at my friend Ellen’s house visiting for the day.  Ellen’s neighbor had a litter full of kittens and they were roaming all over the place.  They were adorable.

We were just getting settled into our base housing and adjusting to newlywed life.  Terence was often working 12 hour night shifts or gone to work.  I needed something to love and cuddle while he was away……so I brought one of these sweet kittens home with me.

I’m not sure how thrilled Terence was that I brought the cat home.  In fact I think he was probably upset with me, but back then he wanted his new wife to be happy so he let me keep her.  We named her Holly Branch.  Holly was the best kitty.  She reminded me of a rag doll.  She just would lay around and let you pet & cuddle her.  She was my first baby.

Holly and I were together while Terence was deployed in Iraq.  That cat made coming home every day better.  She was there to greet me and she slept right next to me every night.  She filled a void in my life at the time.

She would sleep right on my neck at night.  I remember waking up and she was practically smothering me with her kitty love.  I miss that cat sometimes because she was there when nobody else was……

So is God.

He’s there for you when no one else is & He is there to fill that void.  Even when I don’t deserve it, He smothers me with his love and I always know I am special to Him.  I’m so far from perfect, yet He accepts me as I am and forgives me.  He will see me through this life when nobody else will.  He will not only fill that void, but change me and mold me.

Higher than the mountains that i face
Stronger than the power of the grave
constant in the trial and the change

One thing remains

Your love never fails
It never gives up
It never runs out on me

Because on and on and on and on it goes
It overwhelms and satisfies my soul
And I’ll never, ever, have to be afraid

One thing remains

In death
In life
I’m confident and covered by the Power of Your great love

My dept is paid
Theres nothing that can separate
My heart from Your great love
