Fall TV Lineup

I’m so excited for all the new fall TV shows coming out!  During the summer there are a few things on…but you know how it goes.  They always leave you hanging until the premiers in the fall.

Here are two new shows I’m looking forward to this fall:

blackish1

Black-ish (Reminds me of a modern day Cosby show)

Premieres Wednesday, September 24th 8:30pm on ABC

Andre ‘Dr’ Johnson (Anthony Anderson) has a great job, a beautiful wife, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), four kids and a colonial home in the ‘burbs.  But has success brought too much assimilation for this black family? With a little help from his dad (Laurence Fishburne), Dre sets out to establish a sense of cultural identity for his family that honors their past while embracing the future.

black-ish stars Anthony Anderson as Dre, Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow, Yara Shahidi as Zoey, Marcus Scribner as Andre Jr., Miles Brown as Jack, Marsai Martin as Diane and Laurence Fishburne as Pops.

cristela Premiere

Cristela

Premieres Friday, October 10th 7:30pm on ABC

In her sixth year of law school, Cristela (Cristela Alonzo) is finally on the brink of landing her first big (unpaid) internship at a prestigious law firm. The only problem is that her pursuit of success is more ambitious than her traditional Mexican-American family thinks is appropriate. She’s stuck straddling the old culture she’s trying to modernize at home with her working-class family and the modern world she’s trying to embrace in her professional career. Breakout comedian Cristela Alonzo stars in this hilarious comedy about laughing your way down the path of the new American dream.

Cristela stars Cristela Alonzo as Cristela, Carlos Ponce as Felix, Terri Hoyos as Natalia, Andrew Leeds as Josh, and Sam McMurray as Trent.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING THIS FALL???

Exhausted!

This past week has just been exhausting!!!!  It seems like we’ve had something going on every single minute the last few weeks and when I get home all I want to do after work is VEG.

I’m so ready for fall weather and leaves, scarves, boots, pumpkin candles…oh my!

I had a great visit with my sister, Stephanie, and Jarrett this past weekend. It was quite exhausting shopping with two boys and we had some bumps….but overall we had a good time and the boys just LOVE each other.

We ate lunch at Taco diner and then got Sprinkles ice cream sundaes.

Then we headed to North Park Mall and shopped around for a bit.  Later that night we went to a wine bar and had some good girl talk.  We came home and watched a movie called Contagion and if you ever want to get freaked out about how fast a pandemic can kill the world then watch that movie!

My allergies have been killing me lately.  I wear my glasses sometimes, but most of the time wear contacts.  I’ve been wanting some new frames….any ideas???

That Kid + A Fun Little Giveaway!

{GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED ***WINNER NOTIFIED VIA E-MAIL}

This kid. He’s the love of my life. He is such a goofy kiddo. We are working on his listening ears and trying to help him learn the right things to say….but he gets so mad when I try and correct him!  Like using “Her did that” instead of “She did that”. Context is probably a hard thing to learn.

Every day he runs straight to the iPad.  I know he’s had a long day at school (where there is no TV) and just wants to check out for a moment just like I do.  Is it bad that he wants to b-line to the iPad?  I think he’ll be okay.

He’s still wetting his pants at nap time.  I know it’s just a phase, but I feel SO bad for his teachers who have to clean up that mess every day.  Bless their ever-loving heart.

He’s becoming quite the artist and learning to write his name really well.  My favorite subject in school was art…maybe he’s taking after his Mama?

1. My daily hair routine consists of
I only wash my hair every 2-3 days.  When I don’t wash it I used a dry shampoo.  I like the Batiste for Blondes brand.  I also use Got 2B hair powder…it’s amazing stuff and gives you the “perfect poof”. I don’t use a certain brand of shampoo or conditioner, I usually just buy what’s on sale.  My favorite hair spray is Kenra Finishing Spray.  That’s about it for my hair!  I usually just pull it up part way, I don’t like having my bangs in my face.

2. The best hair advice I’ve received
Don’t over wash your hair, it causes breakage.  Also, don’t brush it too much…that causes damage too.

3. My hair idol is

Julianne Hough.  I love her hair short or long she always styles it great.  I wish she didn’t chop it all off…but she seems to be growing it out nicely.

A Case of the Mondays

I need to stop looking at Zulily.  That site is super addictive.  I’ve been told by my husband I’m banned from shopping there….they have EVERYTHING!  My only issue is their shipping time is a bit looooooong.

Like this cute sweater from one of my favorite Christmas movies 🙂

I love this.  We have ugly Christmas sweater day at work so this is simmering in the corner of my mind today!

We had a great weekend!  Friday night we went out to a birthday party for my good friend Bree’s little girl Millie.  She turned 2 and had the cutest Sophia the First party.

Isn’t this cake amazing y’all?

The next day I had a shower to attend for our good friend Christa and my “future daughter in law” Carlisle.  Christa is the most gorgeous pregnant woman ever!  I was a bloated mess…but she was truly glowing.

It was such a pretty shower.

Connor’s been having some tummy issues. I had already taken him to the doctor earlier in the week, but we had to take him back Saturday because he was still having bad poops. That sounds awful, but it’s true. I don’t know what is causing this but we are watching his diet really carefully and staying up on probiotics.  Poor kiddo.

Yesterday we just chilled out and went grocery shopping.  I watched the rest of The Killing – season 4 on Netflix.  I’m going to miss that show!!!

Happy Monday friends 🙂

Life Changes: How do you Manage the Every Day?

Right now everything in my life seems up in the air.  I’m a planner by nature, so it’s hard for me not to have everything all laid out and know what’s coming.

I do know there is a time and place for everything and I shouldn’t worry….but I do.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I don’t know where we’ll be a few months from now or even a year from now.  What I do know is that I need to have trust in the Lord that things will go according to his plan.

Terence and I both work full-time.  Terence has a LONG commute every day (about 45 mins each way)  We are trying to find a middle ground that makes us both happy.  What that middle ground is??? I don’t know yet.  I know it probably means moving in the near future and making some changes.  I’m not a big fan of moving or change.

At the end of the day what’s most important is family & I want us all to be happy.  As of late our daily schedules have taken a toll on both of us and effected our attitudes and happiness.  I want to bring joy back into our every day lives.  How that will happen?  I don’t know yet…

I just know that something has to change and we have to take a leap of faith.

Terence and I are total opposites in the way we plan.  He’s a financial planner- I say penny pincher.  He’s constantly spread sheeting and planning for the future and retirement.  I’m more of a live for today sort of person and it’s only money….blah blah blah.  You can’t take it with you.  I think we work hard, so it’s okay to have a balance and buy a shirt or dine out occasionally.

Doing what’s best for Connor as he gets ready to start Kindergarten next year.  I’d like to be settled before then….no matter where that is.  My mind is always torn in two different directions.  I feel like I’m living in a temporary time frame and it makes me nervous. I want to please everyone….but sometimes you just can’t.

How do you deal with every day stress?  Being a Mom, Wife, and working full-time is rough sometimes…but I’m so thankful for all these rolls.

How do you juggle your every day?

Happy Thursday friends….and thanks for reading and prayers!
