I just picked Connor up from school today and we are on our usual route home on the freeway here in DFW.  Then as I’m driving along I pass a marquee that says “LIMIT OUTDOOR ACTIVITY” or “OZONE LEVEL ORANGE”.  Can I tell you how much that scares me about our air quality???

Will my son be able to grow up in a world without pollution and trash all over the highways?  I am praying he will.  All we have to do is be conscious of our actions.  Laziness is what has led us to this path of destruction.
We have started to teach Connor what you’re able to recycle – plastics, cardboard, and glass.  He knows exactly where the recycle bin is in our house and he goes straight to it!  Love his willingness to save and re-use.  We also try not to use so many paper items like paper plates, cups, and silverware.  Yes, it is easier to just chunk things in the trash…but beyond that remember where it ends up!  A landfill somewhere near you.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  That’s right…Christmas time is here!  Who wants to battle with a cold or flu when you have so much to do and there is so much fun to be had?  Not me.

Connor’s in school and we all know little kids put everything in their mouths, they pick their nose, and they are a magnet for germs.  It seriously grosses me out.  I remember a couple of years ago all three of us got the flu really REALLY bad in our  family.  Connor was first, then me, then Terence went down too.  We felt so helpless and pitiful.  There was nothing we could really do besides lay on the sofa with a box of Kleenex and rest.  I can’t tell you how many boxes of Kleenex we probably went through!

Nobody wants to deal with sickness in their home.  However, you can be prepared to strike back.  We stock up on Kleenex and meds during this time of year.  So, if we do get hit with sickness we’ll be prepared for battle.We are big Target shoppers.  While shopping at Target I picked up a load of Kleenex to help get us through the cold season.  I also saved some moolah by printing a $1 OFF COUPON valid at Target. 

When Connor gets sick I know his favorite thing to do is lay on the couch with his blanket watching his favorite movies.  He’s also super snuggly when he’s sick (I don’t mind that part!)

I put up the Christmas tree this weekend.  That signifies that Christmas is right around the corner.  Friends and family will be coming in and out of our house.  I’m and OCD clean freak so I’m always trying to keep things looking tidy.  Of course it’s hard with a 3-year-old who is constantly leaving things all over the place!  My husband and I both work full-time and Connor is in school.  Between our normal everyday lives and the (lovely & fun) chaos that comes with the season, it’s all I can do to keep my head on straight!  Ha ha!

It’s the little things in life that I’ve come to appreciate.  When someone does a simple task without being asked……like…..putting the toilet paper back on the roll when it’s empty???  Can I get an amen?  Living with boys ain’t easy folks.  I think I’m the only person that EVER changes the toilet paper in our house.  When we have guests over one of the first things I do is check to see we have a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom.  That’s the worst feeling having a guest over and leaving them hanging in the bathroom with NO TOILET PAPER!!!  How rude.
