Nexxus Salon Care: Results You Can See

“This post is sponsored by Nexxus New York Salon Care, a product of Unilever, as a part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.” #TBD #IC

A couple of months ago I got my hair cut really short for the summer.  I mean…short!  I told myself at the end of last year I wasn’t going to cut it at all because I wanted to grow it out super long and be able to do a beloved top knot.  Well, like most women my hair can drive me bonkers.  My hair is naturally curly and most days it’s a battle with my hair just to make myself look presentable.

I’ve had every hairstyle imaginable.  You name it I’ve tried it.  Short, long, blonde, brown, red, or even black…I’ve done it all!

Hair Flashback:

hair collage

I’m really picky about hair products and I want to take good care of my hair because I do so much to it.  I dry and straighten it several times a week & this can do a number on my hair!  I recently tried some fabulous products from Nexxus New York Salon Care.

DSC_1565

The Nexxus New York Salon Care Therappe & Humectress Collection smells a-m- a-z- i-n-g!  It left my normally curly, frizzy hair feeling smooth and refined. I have been using all the products above for the last couple of weeks.  I absolutely love the way the Therappe Shampoo and Humectress Conditioner leave my hair.

I’d also like to tell you about some of my other favorites.

The Dry Shampoo Refreshing Mist…I mean really ladies how did we ever survive without dry shampoo?  Now I can got an extra day or two between washing & drying my hair.  This causes less damage to my mane and that helps my hair to grow longer and stronger.

DSC_1570

After I get out of the shower I’ve been applying the Nexxus Encapsulate Caviar Serum on wet hair before blow drying.  Again, it smells delicious and is enriched with 100% pure Elastin Protein which leaves my hair soft and smooth.

DSC_1572

If my hair gets really dry (like the 110 degree heat we had yesterday in TX) then I apply the Nexxus Caviar Complex Replenishing Masque.  This is a super deep conditioning treatment.  If you spend a lot of time in the pool this summer, don’t forget about deep conditioning those locks….chlorine can do a number on your hair.

DSC_1573

The Nexxus Maxximum Finishing mist held like a charm.  Also, one of my biggest pet peeves with hairspray is a clogged nozzle.  This one has yet to clog, goes on super even, and smells so yummy!

Other fab products are the Nexxus Lightweight Conditioning Mist and the Nexxus Volumizing Mousse.  I use these products when I want to give my hair a break from straightening and let it go curly.

You can see in these photos that in just a couple of months my hair has grown a pretty good amount.  I’ll definitely continue to use all the Nexxus products, I can tell they’ve really helped nourish my hair the past couple of weeks.

My hair isn’t exactly where I want it to be yet…but by taking great care of my hair with the help of Nexxus maybe I will have a topknot by Christmas 🙂

We shall see!

Summertime Shades :) + Win a Pair of Your OWN!

I was provided a sample of Aces Sunglasses for my post.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

DSC_1465-2
Summer time of officially here and y’all it’s HOT outside!  We’ve been visiting the pool several times during the week.  This summer Babiators is on a mission to protect kids’ eyes while they’re out vacationing and doing fun activities.

Here are just a few reasons the Aces line for kids ages 7-14 stands out from the crowd:

  • Accessorized: Each pair comes with an awesome sunglasses silhouette bag and a lens cloth.
  • Safe: UV400 lenses offer 100% UVA and UVB protection and undergo rigorous testing to ensure they’re safe for your child.
  • Durable: Flexible rubber frames, and impact and shatter-resistant lenses won’t break when you bend or twist them. Trust us, we’ve tried!
  • Awesome: Mirrored lenses amp up the cool factor on the classic aviator frame and new navigator frame to help kids express their rad personal styles.
  • Guaranteed: The best part? Aces are backed by the Lost & Found Guarantee™ – if you lose or break your shades in the first year, Babiators will replace them for free. All you pay is shipping.

When I first showed Connor his new sunglasses he said “Wow those make me look so cool Mom!”  Not only was he excited, but I was too!  Did you know kids receive 3X more annual UV exposure than adults, yet parents are almost 2X more likely to wear sunglasses than their children!  I know this is true….because I do it!

TIP:  When choosing sunglasses for your kids, always look for:

  • 100% UVA/UVB protection
  • high-quality, durable frames
  • A comfortable fit and a great style your kids will love

Doesn’t Connor look SUPER COOL in his new sunglasses??? 🙂

Fa La La La Favorites!

Connor and I went to Christkindl this year and it was so much fun!  We met our local radio gal Kellie Rasberry and she was super nice!  This was our 4th year to attend Christkindl in Arlington, TX and if you are making holiday plans I highly recommend going.  It’s free to get in and it’s so much fun.  They really amped it up this year with rides for the kids, gingerbread house building, and real snow 🙂

Here’s our holiday “catch up” if you will…I’ll update more on Christmas soon!

One of my absolute favorite things this year was our new tree skirt from PersonalCreations.  It has our last name on it and it’s great quality.  This is the sort of thing I can pass down to Connor’s family in the future.  They are having a huge end of year sale right now and use code SRCH10OFF to get 10% Off and Free Personalization!

I got a new camera strap from Foto Strap and absolutely LOVE it!  It has my new logo on it too!  I’m planning on posting some of my favorite shots from the holiday season soon.

BBP_2497

A few weeks ago I got to meet these two awesome folks.  Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot from HGTV’s Love it or List it, Too.  I’ve always been a big fan of the show.  They were in DFW doing a promo event for Capital One Home Loans and it was so much fun to chat with them for a bit.  The nicest hosts you guys…super sweet!  I asked Todd if he could help me find a home…sigh…I can only hope.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Friday Favorites + Enter to win Velvet Eyewear!

The blog has been put on the back burner lately…I’ve been booked every weekend with photo shoots.  Thankfully booked!  I cannot believe how fast this year has flown by.  Maybe it’s because all the changes we’ve had, but seriously I cannot believe it’s almost Christmas.

Hopefully next year we’ll have a house to decorate again.  It is sort of freeing not to take everything out this year.  (Remind me I said that next year) In the mean time I found a tree at Target for $20 bucks and I’m just as happy as a clam with it!  Connor and I decorated it this week.

BBP_1328

I found some Buddy the Elf stickers at Target too.  It’s one of our favorite movies.  My friend Sarah makes the cutest Buddy the Elf shirts for the holiday season for kids.  Check them out HERE.

BBP_1312

My favorite Aromatique candle of all time was Amaretto Nog.  They don’t make it very much anymore….but this year I found a new scent that is surprisingly similar called “Winterberry” and I LOVE it too!  Smells soooo good!

And last, but not least favorite of the week are my new Velvet Eyewear Sunglasses.

I Mean Really?

Tonight I’m sitting here editing photos and so excited for the fall season to hit us.  I’m waiting patiently Texas…I know you can’t decide.  One day it’s 95 and the next it’s 50.  I’m ready for leaves to change colors and to feel a breeze instead of sweat under my arms.

We put another bid in on a house yesterday.  There are already multiple offers.  I think we are becoming pros at bidding on houses right now.  The market is crazy…we had no idea it was this crazy when we sold our house this past summer.  So, any prayers would be appreciated.  If it’s the Lord’s will then that will be our home, if not I know the right one will come along eventually.

Kids can be so mean.  Connor’s teacher told me that some kids were making fun of him at school because his hair was frizzy/curly.  He does have some crazy hair, but I love his curls.  He usually takes a shower at night and sleeps on it.  By morning it has definitely frizzed out and it’s hard to maintain.  But still- why would that even matter???  I bought a spray bottle today so we can spray it down if it gets out of control.  Anyone recommend any products for frizzy/curly hair for boys?

Who wouldn’t love this face?

BBP_8618

I am loooooving ponchos this season.  I am not a fashionista, but I do like fashion.  I’m short and I like food too much.  I didn’t inherit one bit of my Mother’s gene pool in the height department because she’s 6 feet tall.  This is from Stitchfix.  You fill out a profile online and a stylist picks out pieces for you.  Overall I’ve really liked what my stylist has chosen for me 🙂

BBP_8652

I also bought a Christmas ornament for 2015.  Every year I try to buy an ornament with our yearly photo in it.  One day when I’m old and gray I can look at them all and see how we’ve grown over the years.

BBP_8609

Kindergarten homework is so fun!  I can handle the early years…when he gets into high-school he’s all Terence’s 🙂  There seems to be a new flyer, announcement, or to-do every day.  Gosh, some days I forget my deodorant let alone all the different things going on at school.  There is so much STUFF to remember.  How do you organize school stuff?

BBP_8611

Are you a coffee LOVER like me?  Whelp….check out this awesome shirt by my good friend Sarah, owner of Wake Me Up Designs.  Go get yours HERE before they sell OUT!  Sooooo in love with this shirt and it’s great quality too.  I’m weird about cottons and see through fabrics and this is high quality, good merchandise people.  I love everything she whips out!

Toodles for now y’all!

Celebrate the True Spirit of American Beauty with @Almay #SimplyAmerican

This post is part of a collaboration between Almay and SheKnows. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
BBP_7596

We had a great weekend at the Texas State Fair.  There is just something about the start of the Texas Sate Fair that says “fall” even if it is still 95 degrees outside.

This year I had the best time visiting the Almay bus at the fair.  I had a chance to spin the wheel of prizes, get a mini makeover, and recharge my phone on the patio and relax.

Almay has proudly announced its collaboration with the USO, the only military non-profit organization that has supported our troops and families for more than 70 years. Almay will honor the women of the U.S. military and veterans, and focus on troops as they transition from service back to their communities.

I got my picture taken at the “kissing booth” and put on the big American flag.

This summer, Almay embarked on the ultimate road trip, creating a custom, Simply American experience that will stop at venues such as state fairs and other festivals. Almay will offer make up touch ups and celebrate the people, places and occasions that best exemplify the American spirit, including service women, veterans, military wives and their families.  This means so much to me because we are a former military family.  Terence and I lived on base for almost 6 years right after we got married 🙂

The Almay Simply American bus tour is going out with a bang on October 3rd, making its last stop at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.  Texas peeps check it out!  I know a lot of friends who are going to the Music Festival, so don’t forget to stop by the bust and get your free makeup touch-ups with Almay makeup artists, Almay product samples, and giveaways!

Just for kicks I’ll share the WORST picture in America!  Ha ha!  I actually suggested we ride the dizzy ladybug roller coaster at the fair.  I can’t tell you how thrilled we all were to be on it.  I look like I have whiplash (because I did!) that ride spins you so hard I could barely stand to get off!  Poor Connor’s face….oh my goodness!  Terence just kept telling me to stop screaming…these are the memories life is made of.  Histerical.
