35th Birthday

I am a week into being 35.  The day after I got pulled over and got a speeding ticket- I hate this city we live in!  It’s notorious for cops and the ENTIRE city is 30 mph.  UGH.  Bye bye birthday money…. $$$ RIP.

For some reason I feel like an old fart.  Like, 30 didn’t seem too terrible, but for some reason 35 seems like I’m officially crossing the border of being “old”.  35 is half way to 40 aka a mid life crisis and you are now “high risk” if you ever want any more babies….I keep telling Terence this is IT….the door is closing and if you want more kids you better speak up!  I’m not even playing.  I think about it a lot and wonder if someday I’ll look back and wish we had more kids- and I probably will. So torn!

It all comes down to finances, lifestyle, and doing what we can for Connor….and we are incredibly indecisive.

I got to spend my 35th with none other than my other half and “womb mate” Bonnie 🙂

Connor and I got to take our trip to Arkansas in this fabulous Mazda CX-5.  #drivemazda @mazdausa

I LOVED this car!  I’ve never really considered an SUV or a crossover before, but I like to be higher up off the road.  This car was perfect– including the in dash navigation system (because Lord knows I get lost finding my own socks), the lane sensors (every time I would get out of line it would buzz me and that was super cool.)  The security features were awesome too- like the backup camera and the cruise control speed sensor.   I felt incredibly safe while driving this car.  I felt like it protected ME!

I really WANT this car now 🙂

My Mom, Dad, Nannie, Lindsey, and Aunt Karli came to my sister’s house and we all got to eat cake and visit.  I miss my family so much and get to see them way too little…..so these times are extra precious.  Of course Jarrett and Connor just adore seeing each other too!

Thank you to my beloved family for the birthday celebration and to Mazda for getting us there safe and sound.  We had a great time and I’m counting down the days until our next visit.

Mental Health Break

Testing…testing…one…two…three…

Okay so I can officially say I’ve had sort of a “mental health break” from blogging and I’m hoping to hop back on the blog train.  I’ve been in a funk & haven’t felt like writing.  Reading on the other hand…I can go through at LEAST 5 books a month on my beloved Kindle.

It’s awful.  I wish books would tell you outright whether or not this is part of a 2-5 book series.  I get so caught up reading and reach the end only to discover there are a bazillion more books that I have to wait MONTHS for and by that point I’ve completely forgotten anything about the prior books.

Here’s looking at YOU Sylvia Day *wink* *wink*

I got an email today from Connor’s teacher saying we have to make Valentine’s day boxes for his class at home.  The girl in me wants sparkles and glitter galore…but I know I’ll probably just get some Star Wars stickers and let Connor go to town.  You know how long I’ve been waiting to do arts and crafts for SCHOOL!  I’m more excited than he is probably.  Art is my thing y’all.  If I have to live vicariously through my child so be it.

Still house hunting and trying to keep our heads up before our next lease date is up.  I love our apartments and we’ve met so many great friends here.  It will be sad to leave when we finally do find a house.  I may even cry.  I met a wonderful new friend, Kelly, who moved here with her husband from Little Rock.  I feel like God just brought us together and they are the sweetest ever.  Kelly is me in like 20 years and I just love her spirit!  I went over to their house last night to watch The Bachelor.  I just have to say….Olivia…off with your head!  Or kankles…or toes.  Blah…just leave already – you shallow Cameron Diaz with no personality wanna be.

Get out.

We started a Biggest Loser competition at work.  We weighed in today and I only lost ONE POUND this past week.  Ugh.  I’ll have to remind myself not to eat or drink anything before weigh in next time.  I’m so not a gym person….sigh.

These are definitely not helping either.  Genius Dove Chocolate…genius.  Who can resist red velvet and chocolate together???

This has got to be my favorite Starbucks card of all time.  It’s a camera….awwwww.

I saw them at Christmas and grabbed like 5 of them because I went hysterical.

Friday Favorites Linkup: Fall Edition

Okay first off let me just say these past couple of weeks have been cray cray.  I know I’m always saying that but darn it….life is CRAZY!  Connor missed 4 days of school last week.  He came home Monday from school with over 103 degree fever.  Two Doctor visits later and we finally got a diagnosis after a blood test of pneumonia.  Thankfully he’s back at school this week and things are somewhat normal.

Okay, so gals you know I love to share my favorites with you all.  My lovely friend Kim and I are starting a link-up every Friday called “Friday Favorites”.  You can share what you’ve been crushing on lately.  I love to hear about what you are thinking too 🙂

This week’s theme is FALL!!!

What are some of your fall favorites.  Thank your LORD that tomorrow has a high of 83….please oh please let the weatherman be right for once.

Beanies.  I love me some beanies in the fall….they are perfect for those days when you just don’t want to fix your hair and just throw it on and go.  And you still look half way cute….right?

IMAG0642

Boo at the Zoo.  Yes, it’s full of wild hoodlum children, but there is just something about getting out among the community and being a part of a fall event.
october-35

The Goldbergs.  My favorite TV show.  I love Beverly and can’t wait for all my fall shows to come back on.  I can’t wait to see what Beverly does to embarrass her kids and what she’s scheming this season 😉1541

School supplies.  I love everything related to back to school and I could spend hours looking at all the different pens, pencils, and notepads.  I may have a slight stationary/pen addiction….BBP_5771

These labels are from Mabel’s Label’s and we adore them.BBP_5767

I have the need to washi everything.  I love this pumpkin washi tape from Silent Poetry Arts.  Also, love pumpkin spice lattes, but here in TX I’m still enjoying my iced esspresso.BBP_6940

My friend Ellen came to visit me and introduced me to Charlotte Tilbury makeup.  Oh my gosh y’all I’m in LOVE with this gold cream eye shadow.  It doesn’t feel like a cream, it isn’t sticky.  It’s a great shadow and perfect for fall!

Halloween costumes.  Connor tried on this dinosaur at Pottery Barn Kids. Sooooo cute!

For the BEST Mom Ever!

Being a Mom is one of my all time favorite gigs on Earth.  Besides being a wifey, being a Mom is the ultimate reward.  Yes, at times it’s the most challenging job…but I wouldn’t change anything for the world!

I wanted to share with you a couple of great finds this Mother’s Day.  The first one is this beautiful necklace from UncommonGoods.  If you’ve never visited the UncommonGoods website you need to haul yourself over there right now and check it out.  You are bound to find something for anyone in your life and it is guaranteed to be special.

While you are browsing on the site check out the Mother’s Day and Gifts for Mom collections.  These are specially picked items just for Mother’s Day!

I found this amazing dotted heart necklace.  I’m in love (literally) with it!

BBP_1807

This necklace is beautiful example of sentiment, this sterling silver heart hangs sweetly from a gold-filled wrap and chain. Hand forged by artist Dana Reed, this textural design marries heartfelt elegance with mixed metal, industrial style. Made in Chicago, Illinois.  Artist Dana combines the exotic elements of many cultures with art deco influenced geometrics and ultrachic textures.  It truly is a “one of a kind” gift from UncommonGoods.

She Conference exists to inspire women, help them to discover their God-given value and to stand in the gap for those who have no voice. This gathering of women of all ages and walks of life is designed to be a fun time of fellowship, as well as a time to reflect, refresh and renew our minds.

When we as women gather in one place and bring our God-given glory, it gives us a kingdom perspective of the power we hold. If one women can change her world, then imagine what women, united by God can do.

We stand as women to fight against human trafficking, poverty, abandoned and orphaned children, and the child soldiers of Northern Uganda. We also respond to the many local challenges right here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

If you are interested in a free ticket, a ($50 value) to attend the conference please leave a comment below.

The 2015 DFW Auto Show #TNTFtWorth

Last week I was invited to a fun event hosted by Techlicious & TravelingMom.

A group of DFW bloggers and I were invited to tour the GM Assembly Plant in Arlington.  It was so cool y’all!  It was fun getting a behind the scenes peek at how Yukons, Escalades, Tahoes, & Suburbans are made.  Some of the biggest and best trucks around- found right here in Texas.

General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant has been building quality vehicles in Texas since January 6, 1954. It was the company’s first air-conditioned automobile factory. During its first years of production, GM Arlington produced Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac and Chevrolet passenger cars. The plant converted to truck production in 1997 and now is the only GM facility to produce GM’s portfolio of full-size sport utility vehicles – the award-winning Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade.

fortsheraton

After our tour we met up at the Fort Worth Sheraton.  A fabulous local that just completed a multi-million dollar renovation.  It’s right in the heart of Fort Worth and everyone was super friendly.  You must go check out the new rooms and P.S……. there’s a Starbucks in the lobby (You know what I’m sayin???)

Myself and several other DFW bloggers enjoyed a fancy lunch and presentation about the Tech & Travel Show.  We had some awesome sponsors including: Chevrolet Suburban, VEX Robotics Ant by HEXBUG, Sheraton Fort Worth, & the Consumer Electronics Association.

Connor LOVED his HexBug Ant.

The lunch was crazy good…but you know what else???  This chick won a KATE SPADE PURSE!!!  OMG!!!  I didn’t recognize my own name when it was called.  Really?

The next day we met in Dallas for a preview of the DFW Auto Show.

BBP_1526

We enjoyed a private tour and yummy lunch during the awards ceremony.  My favorite part was looking at all the sparkly, shiny, fancy new cars.  They just SMELL SO GOOD!

Maybe someday…a girl can dream 🙂

After the lunch there was another drawing for prizes and I won ANOTHER Kate Spade bag.  Seriously…I was about to go buy my weight in scratch off tickets.  Some lucky streak huh?

BBP_1522

Here I am by the 10 MILLIONTH vehicle built in the Arlington Assembly Plant.  Those people put Santa’s elves to shame!  They work incredibly hard and have the best work ethics.   Our group heard a few of the employees talk about their jobs before our tour and all I can say is “Wow” and they should be very proud of all their hard work.

BBP_1515

I love companies who support our military.  Being a former military family I try to promote and support companies who give back.  Thanks Chevy for helping to promote Cell Phones for Soldiers & congrats on all your hard work!  Here’s to many more years making the best vehicles around!

BBP_1518

A big shout out to Dwan and all her hard work too!  Thank you girlie 🙂

Wining & Dining & Other Randoms…

I’m having so much fun with my new Nikon D750. I’m going to start booking some Valentine’s day shoots soon so I can play with my new toys 🙂  One of my favorite companies MOD STRAPS has the cutest camera straps.  I love a little bit of bling…isn’t this just fabulous?  They are now selling in Target too 🙂
DSC_0013

I usually don’t like glitter polish, but this one in particular has been a favorite over the past year. I ordered a second bottle. It stays on forever and it not chunky and flaky like some glitter polishes. It’s from Julep.

One of my best friends since high school makes the coolest jewelry. Her name is Ellen and you can check her jewelry out on Facebook at Elle Designs.

Connor is getting so big 🙂

I met up with some of my best blogger friends and we went on a wine tour at Lost Oak Winery.  We had the best time catching up, girl talk, and drinking lots of wine!  It was very interesting to learn how wine is made.  I’m ready for another girls day or night out again.  If you are new to blogging in the Texas area or just looking for a great community check out Texas Women Bloggers.  I’m sure you’ll never meet a stranger in this group!
