The summer has just flown by y’all! Connor is about to start first grade in a month and I just can’t believe it. Somebody hold me! We took Connor in for his 6-year-old check up a few months ago and one of the things his doctor recommended was to get an eye exam. Did you know that 80% of what children learn is through their eyes?
I knew it was coming….
I’ve had terrible eyesight the majority of my life. So have my parents and my sister, not to mention my husband also wears glasses. So it’s probably inevitable that someday Connor will need glasses. Last week Connor and I headed to Pearle Vision in Southlake for an eye exam. We had the best time looking around and trying on glasses. Connor actually WANTS glasses because he thinks they are “cool”. Ha!

He’s precious, glasses or not!

Everyone at Pearle Vision Southlake was amazing to us! They were super friendly and let us try on all kinds of glasses. They were quick to answer our questions and put Connor at ease.
Everyone knows kids have a ton of questions, and our doctor was so nice in answering all the questions in Connor’s little mind! 20160712_161353 20160712_161448 20160712_161400
We loved Dr. Hannaman. She has children of her own, so she rocked at helping Connor feel at ease and comfortable.

As a kid, Connor had the option to take his eye exam with numbers or pictures. He chose pictures. This helped so much for him to relate what he was seeing.
Thankfully, this year Connor did not require glasses. We were told he probably would need them sometime in the near future. Dr. Hannaman talked with us about blue light and how it affects Connor’s eyesight. He spends a lot of time on the iPad and watching TV…more than I would like.
Blue light is the harmful light given off my electronic devices and now Pearle Vision actually makes blue light lenses your child can wear to help prevent blue light from affecting their eyesight. Even if your child doesn’t wear glasses, they can still use blue lenses while watching TV or the iPad. Blue light
Pearle Vision did an awesome job providing comprehensive eye exams for both Connor and me! Pearle Vision will make sure to get the prescription right. Comprehensive eye exams are essential starting at the age of 3 or if your child shows signs of visual impairment.
Right now is the perfect time to take your child into Pearle Vision before school starts! Pearle Vision has a limited time offer for free lenses for kids 18 and under. Can I get a Woohoo for FREE people???

  1. My kids haven’t had eye exams yet at an eye doctor’s office, but I imagine they’ll need to within the next couple of years.

  2. I don’t have any kids but some of the children in our extended family wear glasses and have regular eye exams it is so important to stay one it.

  3. My son and daughter do not need eyeglasses at this time. I will be having their eyes checked next month. They have not had any problems with their eyes.

  4. I had my son’s eyes checked last year when he was having headaches but they said his vision was fine.

  5. My Granddaughter just had her vision checked, and so far she doesn’t require glasses.

  6. My son when he was 6 started to complain of headaches and not being able to see the board at school. I took him to the eye doctor, and sure enough he needed to wear glasses for the rest of his life.

  7. My daughter has been wearing glasses since the 4th grade…she loves picking out a new pair every year or so (although as she gets older they get more expensive!) She also has been wearing contacts for about 3 years. Both of my boys have great vision (although they can never see well enough to get their clothes into the laundry hamper…weird!)

  8. No kids over here but my niece is needing some glasses soon

  13. Both of my boys have yet to show signs of needing glasses and we get them checked about once a year. If they have my wife’s family vision gene it may be sooner rather than later.

  14. Only our youngest son wears glasses. However, we make sure to have all our kids eyes examined yearly. Thanks so much.

  15. My daughters teacher noticed she was having trouble reading the board so we took her to the eye Dr and she needed glasses. She has yearly vision check ups

  16. My niece wears glasses and gets her eyes checked every 1-2 years. She mainly needs them for reading and seeing the white board at school. My brother used to wear glasses too for years.

  17. I actually took for girls last week for exams. Getting glasses this week. My 16 year old has been wearing them for a few years and now has to wear them to drive.

  18. So far, they are okay with their eye sights. But they are serious readers. I always have to remind them to keep a good distance between the book and their eyes. 🙂

  19. My daughters are grown but they have been wearing glasses from about age 12. The rest of my kids have good vision. My 22 grandkids age 6 to 18 all have good vision so far.

  21. We had a similar experience with our youngest — I knew at some point wh would need glasses just like her Dad and I do. We just visited our eye doctor for her newest pair — green & purple frames 🙂 She’s a girl who loves color!

  29. I need to take my son to his eye doctor. He has been complaining about how he can’t see stuff. He just started school so I’m sure he will need glasses soon.

  30. My child’s needs are to have the yearly vision tests done and to order usually two to three pairs of glasses per year.

I don’t have children – but myself, I wear glasses & just had my annual eye exam two months ago

  32. My son is 18 and just started wearing prescription glasses a few months ago! He started having trouble seeing at school in the latter part of his senior year and it was determined that he was having vision problems so now he is seeing better with some hip new glasses! 😉 He now has 20/50 vision and a quarter of a stigmatism in one eye which is minor so there is nothing to be done with the stigmatism at this time.

  33. I think she’s going through a phase, we buy her the dollar store glasses just for the looks lol

  34. I’m happy to say that my children have great vision and currently have no needs. I, on the other hand, need an exam.

  35. So far my son has not needed glasses but he is due for an eye exam.

  36. My son is nearsighted just like me. He needed his first pair of glasses when he was 10. Funny, my daughter did not need glasses until her teens, she had to do therapy for Convergence insufficiency which was picked up by an eye exam.
