Biggest Loser Blogger: Week 1

TheJavaMama

Okay Ladies!
It’s time to start this bizzzznessss.  Lets get our groove thing on and help a sista out!
Link-Up will be every Monday until the first week of March
You can grab the button above if you wish!
Also, I would like to introduce you to Amanda who will be helping me with this contest.  So thankful for Amanda.  I know she’ll have some great things to contribute as well.
I’m just going to tell you a little bit about my weight journey.  I fluctuate faster than the freshman 15 on steroids.  I mean one minute I am skinny…then the next minute what the heck happened and how did I get here?  Growing up I used to look at people and say “I’ll never get THAT bad”.  Isn’t that awful? Well, here I am and it’s that bad.  Granted, I probably had a few too many eggnog lattes this holiday season.  The month of December doesn’t help me out at all.  I’ve always had a major sweet tooth.  I will drain a truffle and I crave chocolate like a vampire.  If I don’t have it I seriously will go out and get it.  This madness must stop.
I’m ashamed at how I’ve let myself go.  I feel sluggish and I know inside I’m unhealthy.  I want to be a sexy wife and mama….and I want to do it the right way.  I’ve been on so many diets.  None that have held long lasting effects in my life.  I think it all goes back to calorie counting, portion control, and exercise.  Simple as that.  Obesity does run on my Dad’s side of the family and it’s been something I’ve always dealt with and it can really effect your self esteem.  Food is good, it’s a joy in life and sometimes it can become a habit.  If you feel like you’re having a weak moment never hesitate to email!  I’ll pray for you and I know I could use the prayers as well….this is not going to be easy!
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Corinthians 10:31
So last week I dumped out my candy bowl at work.  I am known for always having a candy dish….well no longer!  I’ve been watching my starches and trying to pay attention to the things I eat.  Terence and I have started juicing again.  Honestly ya’ll raw juice is one of the best things you can do for your body.  It may look nasty, but doesn’t taste that bad.  Just go easy on the ginger!
I’ll give you an example of what I usually eat:
FYI: I don’t eat a ton of meat.  I don’t eat beef or fish at all.  So it’s really hard for me on proteins.
Breakfast: oatmeal
Snack: Greek yogurt w/fruit or granola
Lunch: Egg salad and apple
WATER WATER WATER
Dinner: Grilled chicken and veggies & a raw juice drink
WATER WATER WATER
I don’t think you should deny your body if it’s craving something.  I still eat chocolate but in moderation.  I’ll have a few bites instead of eating a whole candy bar or bowl of something.  I work 40+ hours a week, so exercising with a toddler is hard.  When I get home I am pooped.  I also work at a desk and that doesn’t help either.  Most of my energy is focused on diet.  Also- at night I use my ab roller and do stretches.  My sister is supposed to be sending me the Brazilian Butt Lift videos??? ha ha!
I drink Emergen-C a lot right now because it’s flu season.  I also take a multi vitamin.
That’s pretty much my day so far….well now that we’ve been back on track.
So here comes the hard part.  BEING HONEST.  I can say that I am ashamed how far I’ve let myself fall and it’s every humbling to put it all out there on the Internet….but my hope in doing this is accountability and support.
STATS:
Current weight: 174
Weight before Connor: 165
Weight after Connor while breastfeeding: 151
Goal weight: 140
So my goal is to lose 34 pounds.  Not in just these three months…but over the next year.  I know I can do it.  It’s been inspirational to watch my Mom.  In 2012 she lost 41 pounds on Weight Watchers and she looks fabulous!  Yes, she’s 6 foot tall (why didn’t I inherit that gene?) I am so proud of my Mom she’s worked very hard & she’s a hot Nana!
I look forward to following all your journeys as well and being a support system.  I’ve already checked out most of your blogs and I’m so excited about this contest!  More details on the prize at the end….but really the prize will be how hot you’ll look in those new jeans right 😉
We can do it!!!!
Here is my inspiration pictures from a LOOOOONG time ago!  But still it can happen right?
(AND REMEMBER ONLY POST WHAT YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE POSTING!!!)
xoxo Becky

  1. I am so proud of you for being brave…and thank you for putting this all together! I am looking forward to getting to know others and supporting them as well!

    GO BECKY GO!!

  2. The pictures are great! And regardless my friend, you are beautiful inside and out! Obesity also runs in my family on my dad’s side as well and up until the last 4 or so years I never worried because I was always so active. Now that I will be 45 this year *gulp* I need to really hit the bandwagon and get my groove back. So thank you for starting this and I can’t wait to cheer everyone on! We CAN do this! 🙂

  3. I feel the same way. I am so excited about this. I have been working out since the beginning of December but it’s nice to have the support through blogging and Twitter.

  4. Hi! I stumbled on your blog a while back- and though I am not participating in this program— I want to thank you for putting this out and running it. It has already got me thinking about my own health. You are inspiring more than you know. Praying for your success & growth!

  6. Good luck Becky! I just started Weight Watchers today. With all of us eating healthy and exercising hopefully we can keep encouraging each other! 🙂

  7. This link up is awesome! I already have another linkup that I do on Mondays – would I be able to link up later in the week? Or link a post from the previous Thursday (when I usually weigh in) on the following Monday? If so…I totally want to join!

  8. You have a GREAT goal and a perfect timeline! It’s SO HARD working full time and taking care of a family – and trying to find time to take care of yourself sometimes get tossed to the wayside. GOOD FOR YOU for making a decision to take care of yourself! Your attitude is great and you’re going to accomplish your goals! 🙂

I love that you put together this little blog link up! It’s going to be a GREAT support system for all of us! Thank you so much!
