Baking Skillz

I decided to bake some cupcakes tonight to get in the baking mode!I got a new cupcake pan and some cute liners at Sur La Table this weekend
I make my own chocolate icing (did you think I would decide to make anything BESIDES chocolate? No-I don’t think so!)
2 bags of Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 stick of butter
(melt butter and chocolate chips together)
1/2 bag of powdered sugar
a little bit of milk
a tbs. of sour cream to make it smooth
beat until smooth….
Here it is all nice and creamy-but still warm. I wanted it a little bit cooler so it
would be easier to work with
So I layed it on top of the icees. This was a MISTAKE!!!! It came out rock hard and I had to warm it up again just to make it work!

Ready for the icing

I obviously need some major work on icing the cupcakes-but the point is they taste SO good!
It looks like poo on top of them…but I promise it’s chocolate! LOL!
(Maybe I shouldn’t have put that thought in ya’lls head!) Oops!
This was the best one I did 🙂
Looks like a little flower
Okay-Now I’ve provided some inspiration! It’s nothing compared to some folks…but I am a work in progress ya’ll!
GO ENTER THE BAKE OFF– YOU WON’T BE SORRY! 🙂
(It has to be something YOU made yourself)

  1. LOL! I had the same thought about the poop =) Who cares right…it’s chocolate!! Sure could use one of those right about now.

Off the subject..I can’t pull up your sisters blog. Is it just me?!?

  2. UGh, I am craving chocolate so bad!! These look amazing!! I did look at one and think poo!! HA!! All in love!!

Yes, Army Wives is great! Some of it is far off. Such as, the commander’s wife would NOT be hanging out with a low ranking enlisted wife. It just doesn’t happen. But there are a lot of issues that are true to the military life.

  3. You can send some of those my way 😛

And TIP: When frosting cupcakes, just use a small butter knife and give it a twirl. The frosting needs to be creamy and soft. 🙂

  4. lady you are rockin the socks off of that scarf!! i love love love it!

and sadly as soon as I was done drooling over the look of the initial warm frosting i scrolled done and thought…uhh yeah that’s poo…and then when i saw you typed the same thing i had to laugh! i would eat the frig out of those bad boys though…mmmhmmm!!

but i have to ask…are pies allowed in the bake ofF? i signed up with the intention of a pie, but all i see are cakey creations…and i can do cakey…oh yes i can! but can make a mean pie too!

  6. So I just found your blog through 20sb and started reading this post and was like “Crap. Another young wife who cooks and takes pictures and does everything flawlessly.” Then I saw that the icing looked like poop and it made me happy! For that, I’m bookmarking your blog and reading you all the time! 🙂

  7. Ha ha – these pictures are so funny! But the cupcakes look delish!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I will definitely give a shout out to your bake off – I’m going to enter myself 🙂 Just planning what to make!
