Decorating style

I don’t know what our decorating style is, I just know that it has constantly changed over the years. I used to be into the reds and dark greens. Right now I am really into turquoise blue. I ordered a couple yards of this blue dupioni silk to make some euro shams for our bed. I hope that T’s Mom can help me with that….I know it will be a bit though b/c she is also in the midst of making bridesmaids dresses for the weddings.

Thank you for all your suggestions for the jars! I am sure I will come up with something and I’ll show you what I did. Right now our apartment is bare bones – no decor at all! It’s needs SOMETHING!!!! I know this will all take time and maybe we can do one decoration element at a time. I also need a kitchen rug and a few other things.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SITE TO SHOP FOR HOME DECOR?

Also-this is funny and has NOTHING to do with this post, but last night we drove through Sonic before heading to the grocery store. We pulled into the stall and Terence ordered our food and the person on the intercom asked “Is this for here or to go?” Okay, is there a “for here” AT SONIC??? I mean isn’t it ALL to go food because you are in your car? We looked at each other for a minute and were like…it’s to go I guess right? LOL!

  1. i love anthro for home decor…but most of my stuff comes from antique and junk stores…and i used to be able to find quite a bit on ebay, but these days it is all replicas and way overpriced riffraff…however i have gotten some great things at ikea! happy shopping!!

  2. My home decor is from all over the place. I pick things up for my home at Garden Ridge and Hobby loBby. They have very cute and very cheap stuff!

OKay – I used to work at Sonic several years ago and think it’s hilarious that they asked you that question! Of course everything is to go! Haha!

  3. I’m with Jennifer on Hobby Lobby. Very cheap, especially like right now, they are having a 50% off sale, or they were last week. I’m also a sucker for Pottery Barn, but their stuff is SOOO not cheap, but I do think Target has some good knock offs of their stuff.

  4. I probably would have looked like a moron – because I would have cracked up over the Sonic question. But then again – we have a history with that place. My inlaws go all the time, and one time instead of giving the kid a tip – my FIL handed him the receipt from their trip to Wal*Mart right before getting their food. HA!

I don’t really have much of a signature style either – but that color is fantastic!

  5. ballard designs, CB2, williams sonoma home (if you win the lotto), hobby lobby, west elm, ikea, target, home goods! love the fabric. fun fun fun!

  6. I love Ballard, Hobby Lobby and Anthropologie!

I hope all the unpacking is going well. It looks like you are getting to the fun stuff now!

Oh, and I left you a little present on my blog! 🙂

  7. “for here or to go?”?! wow. ok. I thought the lady at the bank yesterday was bad. I went to make a deposit into one of our accounts that happens to be from a different state when we lived in NJ so I had to use an ‘out of state’ deposit slip. In any case we only have that one out of state account so I hand her the slip and the check and she asks “which account do you want it deposited in? The California account or the out of state account?” :-/

  8. I love Ballards and Pottery Barn for inspiration and then I just go out and shop and find nearly the same thing ( the look) for a smaller price! It’s like a treasure hunt!!

  9. I LOVE that fabric! I’m partial to turquoise anything though, that’s been my fave color forever! 🙂

My ideas aren’t any different from everyone else’s. My house is such a mix, some of the modern stuff I have I got from IKEA and Target and the more traditional or “ethnic” kinda stuff, I find at Hobby Lobby and Kirkland’s. Both are so cheap you can’t go wrong! 🙂 Can’t wait to see more pics of your place as you get it all set up!

  10. Haha! that’s funny about sonic….I used to say that to the people at the drive thru at Starbucks….it was hilarious…some people didn’t think twice and others were really confused!
